Riverview Field Trips

Title I Schools Eligible, All Grades, by Sign-up (September – May)

Growing Healthy Kids is pleased to offer elementary school students from Title 1 schools free 4-hour field trips to the beautiful 2.25 acre Riverview Middle School Garden! Field trip season goes from September to May, and trips are run by a talented team of Growing Healthy Kids Garden Educators.

The Riverview Middle School Garden is a vast and carefully structured outdoor learning environment. With the generous support of the California Department of Food and Agriculture, the site has been transformed into a vibrant food forest that emphasizes sustainbility. Plantings at Riverview align with the principles of permaculture, and the site features sustainbly built cob benches that are made by MDUSD's own students.

Riverview Field Trips showcase culturally relevant curriculum that introduces students to the work of scientists, engineers and farmers of color. Through exploring this garden, students learn where their food comes from and get to make tortillas, garden pizzas, and salsas from scratch!
