Time & Location:

Apr 30, 2024, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

Pleasant Hill, 1 Corritone Ct, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523, USA

About the event:

Join Growing Healthy Kids staff for a night of fun nutrition activities and learning!

About Family Nutrition Night:  Growing Healthy Kids nutrition programming aims to educate students so they can make smart and informed choices about what they eat. This ambition is what motivated our winter cooking lessons with ages TK - 5, and it also extends to programming for those students' families! Come join an evening of activities designed to empower you and your family with knowledge about how our food choices impact our health and our planet. The event will feature information for adults and hands on activites for students that are designed to make the knowledge you learn practical, exciting, and fun. All ages are welcome!

Activities will include:

  • A presentation by Gregory Garden's own Garden Educator Angela Berry
  • Whole Wheat Station
  • "Rethink Your Drink" low-sugar drink taste tests
  • Cooking class station to practice kitchen skills with your family
  • "Ask the Educator" Station
  • Other nutrition based fun!

About Angela Berry: Angela Berry (MPH candidate) brings her experience as a public health educator to her role as garden educator at Gregory Gardens Elementary School. Ms. Berry has worked with organizations such as WIC to develop nutrition curriculum for all ages and is excited to share what she knows about healthy eating and garden science with students and their families. As a parent of four young kids, she loves sharing tips and strategies for encouraging kids to eat a variety of foods with other parents.

Access Notes: The event will be indoors, with access to a bathroom. The space is wheelchair accessible.

Student Service Hours: Service Hours are availible for MDUSD students who volunteer to help put on the event! Get in touch for more details.
